Chad Heegaard's Journey to Revolutionize Clothing with Advanced Fabrics in China
In this episode, Chad Heegaard, a former sales professional from Minnesota, took a leap of faith during the COVID-19 pandemic by leaving his job and relocating to China. In China, he taught English while pursuing his passion for clothing and fabric technology. He founded a clothing company with a strong emphasis on creating the most advanced fabric possible, benefiting from the opportunity to learn from experts, visit manufacturers, and expedite the development process without excessive costs. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Chad remained in China for eight months, considering himself an essential worker. He embraced time-blocking and process-building to stay organized and focused. Chad is involved in two companies, Cheegs and Aucto, with Cheegs being his clothing company and Aucto being a software company specializing in asset management. Cheegs successfully launched a Kickstarter campaign, raising $40,000 which covered their initial production run and marketing expenses. They have since launched their website and sold thousands of shirts worldwide, primarily in North America. Chad and his team are dedicated to continuously improving their products based on customer feedback and expanding their offerings in the future.
